71st Annual OCA/OCW/OJCA Convention

We had an excellent turn out at the OCA/OCW Convention in Norman, July 21 and 22. We welcomed exciting speakers, recognized our 2023 OCW award winners, youth winners and had great fellowship at events such as the Past President's Reception. More infromation to follow.

See all the highlights of the 2022 Convention below!

OCW Educational Session #1 - Courtenay Dehoff

We are excited to announce the first in our Convention speaker line-up. TV personality, host and creator of the Fancy Lady Cowgirl brand, Courtenay DeHoff will speak to our CattleWomen following the OCA/OCW Opening General Session on Friday, July 22.

Courtenay DeHoff is a cowgirl turned television personality, keynote speaker and podcast host who has grabbed the attention of Deadspin, Yahoo!, The Huffington Post, LIVE! with Kelly, The CW and more.

DeHoff has worked on-air in front of sold out crowds at sporting events inside Madison Square Garden and anchored live telecasts for national news networks.  From New York Fashion Week to the back of a horse, you never know where she’ll be reporting from next.

In 2020, DeHoff launched the global brand movement Fancy Lady Cowgirl ™  after struggling to fit the traditional cowgirl mold.  Drawing criticism from those in the very communities she was advocating for, she labeled herself a ‘Fancy Lady Cowgirl’ proclaiming you can be both a little fancy and a little ranchy.  The reaction to this self label was swift.  Women from all walks of life emerged and began sharing how they too uphold traditions of the West in unexpected ways.  Through storytelling and fashion Fancy Lady Cowgirl is working to bridge the gap between urban and rural cultures.

DeHoff is born entertainer.  She loves hosting, speaking and even dabbles in acting.  See her acting debut on USA Network’s crime drama “Queen of the South’ (now available on Netflix).

In 2016 DeHoff was named a top 10 finalist in the “LIVE! with Kelly” guest co-host search with Kelly Ripa! She was selected among thousands of entries thanks to her audition tape, which featured a tongue-in-cheek take on her rural lifestyle.

When she isn’t busy working DeHoff loves to travel the world (18 countries and counting) and hang with her world champion bucking bull, Top Dollar. DeHoff is also a former collegiate and professional rodeo athlete.

We want to thank Oklahoma National Stockyards Company for sponsoring this speaker. We appreciate their continued support in efforts we have made to educate and give back to our members through events and speakers such as DeHoff.

OCW Educational Session #2 - Lettie McKinney

OCW is pleased to announce our second speaker in our OCW Convention Educational Session line-up, southwest Kansas cowgirl, entreprenuer and farmer Lettie McKinney. McKinney will speak on returning to her family farm as well as farm diversification she has brought to the operation in the form of MC- Meat Co. and The Roundtop event center Friday, July 22 in the afternoon.

McKinney is a f
ourth generation Southwest Kansas farmer and rancher walking an entrepreneurial path like generations before her. But embracing her serial entrepreneurship wasn't always easy, and if you would have asked her 10 years ago where she'd be it wouldn't be in Southwest Kansas back on the family operation. She left Kansas with the intention of never returning. McKinney went Oklahoma State University for an animal science degree then ended up in Fort Worth trying to figure out how to run a business. Aspiring to move home, McKinney carved a piece out for her to be able to do just that, by launching a beef shop that then lead to owning a wedding venue. that then furthered into opening an AIR BNB in her rural town of 1300. Embracing her serial entrepreneurship wasn't always easy.  She talks about both the hard times and good times of being a modern rancher, getting creative to bring additional revenue, and going back to an area that might not be so appt to change.

We want to thank Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing for sponsoring this speaker.
